Wine Tasting in SF – Hi-Tech

From Wired:

At the wine stations, organized by varietal, one then inserts the card into a slot, places the glass under a stainless steel spout, and presses the button above the bottle of choice.

The machine deducts money from the card, drop by drop, as it shoots out a precise 1-inch pour.

The machines deduct anywhere from $1 for a few sips of an $8 bottle of 2003 Tres Ojos Old Vines Garnacha to $28 for an ounce of the $300 1997 Sauternes from France’s famous Chateau d’Yquem.

Comment Spam Defeat: Incoming

Google, Yahoo, MSN and many blog software vendors are promoting the rel=”nofollow” attribute for links. Nofollow will tell search engines that a link should not be given any pagerank(which is the only reason that comment spam exists). MovableType, for instance, just released a plugin that modifies all links entered in comments and trackbacks with the new attribute.

Dave’s right. I’m smiling. Not because I need comments on my blog turned on, but because I enjoy reading comments on other people’s blogs!
