Smart Playlist for Podcasts
The genre issue is a real pain. Adam touched on it in one of his podcasts, suggesting that everyone change the genre of their podcasts to “podcast”. Until that happens, I’ve created a smart playlist in iTunes that matches on genres of “podcast”, “spoken word”, “speech”, “books and spoken”, “audiobooks”, and blank.
More on CherryOS, PPC on Intel
Snippets from the article:
Kryeziu recommends a 2-GHz processor, but said the software runs quite happily on a 1-GHz laptop. He said it is capable of simultaneously running Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Internet Explorer and Safari, among other programs.
“It’s like running OS X on my G3 laptop,” Kryeziu explained. “There’s some pauses, but it’s not too bad.”
…
“On a fast system, it’s just as fast as running on a Mac,” he said.
…
Kryeziu said he has already started work on a stand-alone version of CherryOS that can be installed and run without Windows. He said Maui X-Stream has hired a couple of programmers to help.
“It will take a lot of development,” he said. “We’re looking at January or February next year.”
CherryOS – Brand new OSX/PPC Emulator for Intel or Cleaned Up PearPC?!
People are going crazy over this one. The dev is apparently responding to questions about CherryOS here.
Griffin iTrip, Creative TravelSount
I do not have a line in jack on my car stereo. It’s a vanilla AM/FM radio, so I don’t have a tape player, either. I bought the iTrip, which allowed me to play my iPod through the FM in my stereo. If I positioned the thing just right, it only got static-y sometimes. 😦
SO, I cracked it open to expose the antenna, as described by this site. Unfortunately, I must have grazed something during the process and the iTrip doesn’t work anymore.
Anyway, I bought the Creative TravelSound portable speakers today. They aren’t ideal for the car, because the sound will be coming from the dashboard, not from the car’s speakers, but it sounds MUCH clearer than the iTrip.
My new iPod
Last week, for Homestead’s 10th anniversary, every employee was given a 4th generation 20gb iPod(THANKS!). I’ve never owned one before, and I’m really jazzed. As mentioned earlier, I’m digging podcasts. I’m also very excited about the ipodlinux project. ipodlinux does not work on the 4th generation iPods, yet, but my fingers are crossed!
