Comments Activated
I turned comments back on. Comments will be moderated, though, until I figure out a better solution to stop comment spam.
PostSecret? Wow!
I found this on nicfit’s BlogLines list: PostSecret
It is awesome!
Speaking of nicfit, he’ll be happy to know that I modified my atom.xml, index.xml, and index.rdf to include the HTML in the body. Turns out I had a few problems in the corresponding templates. This link showed me the light.
A BUG? Where?!
Travis alerted me to the fact that all of my links are being stripped out by Bloglines. That is WHACK! I’ll figure it out this weekend.
Comment Spam Defeat: Incoming
Google, Yahoo, MSN and many blog software vendors are promoting the rel=”nofollow” attribute for links. Nofollow will tell search engines that a link should not be given any pagerank(which is the only reason that comment spam exists). MovableType, for instance, just released a plugin that modifies all links entered in comments and trackbacks with the new attribute.
Dave’s right. I’m smiling. Not because I need comments on my blog turned on, but because I enjoy reading comments on other people’s blogs!
Digital Espresso
I just noticed that the archives for Digital Espresso are still around. It was an EZine from the early Java days that I helped out with. Nostalgia! DE had a great format… we read the appropriate forums, news groups and web pages, adding notes to that week’s DE issue when something caught our eye.
