DS Launch Date Broken?

A commentor on Engadget said this:

I heard that FYE in Manhattan is already breaking the release date and have started selling their stock. Anybody been able to buy one yet?

I played Metroid Prime: First Hunt at the local Best Buy last week and I can’t wait to get my hands on the DS I preordered. I hope Nintendo lets all the retailers sell early.
