Homestead Technologies – Katrina Relief
Justin sent this message to our customers today. I hope everyone affected by the disasters will have a safe(and HAPPY) holiday season.
Dear John,I’m writing to share some exciting news with you regarding Homestead’s Katrina Relief fundraising efforts. Together with the rest of the Homestead community and the Homestead Foundation, your kindness and generosity has helped raise over $50,000 to ease the pain and suffering of countless families displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
We are deeply touched by how many of our valued members rallied together almost instantaneously to help in this time of dire need. Within minutes of posting the donor form on the Homestead website, there was an outpouring of support from the Homestead community, not only through much-needed financial contributions, but also through a flood of heartfelt posts expressing thoughts and prayers for all those affected by this disaster. Thousands of you placed the Katrina Relief Element on your site, multiplying the reach of our community of members. We also received dozens of submissions from businesses in the affected areas, and we have linked to several that would appreciate your support over the holidays.
Due to the massive destruction of the Gulf Coast region and the extended needs of families trying to rebuild their lives, Homestead has decided to continue our relief efforts through December 31, 2005. As we enter the holiday season, if you are able, please help us reach our goal of raising $100,000 by the end of this year. Most of the acute disaster relief efforts have ended in the Gulf Region, but the Herculean rebuilding effort is tasked to the multitude of under funded local and government agencies that the Katrina Relief Fund was created to support.
You can donate directly to the Homestead Katrina Relief Fund by clicking this link. The Homestead Foundation will match every dollar donated by our customers, their families, and their customers, up to $50,000. The Homestead foundation and the PCF Katrina Relief fund are 501(c)3 organizations and all donations are tax deductible.
On behalf of everybody in the Homestead family, thank you for your continued support, and have a safe and wonderful holiday season.

Duplicate Post
Sorry for the duplicate Murderball review. I’m experimenting with hReview and the first attempt at the proper hReview format was foiled by the RTF editor in WordPress.
Murderball is uplifting, irreverant, gritty, fun, etc..
Murderball
Year: 2005
Director: Henry Alex Rubin and Dana Adam Shapiro
Length: 88 minutes
Category: Sports
Media: DVD
Rating from Rated R for language and sexual content.: R
I felt guilty adding Murderball to my Netflix queue. As IMDB says, it is “a film about quadriplegics who play full-contact rugby in Mad Max-style wheelchairs – overcoming unimaginable obstacles to compete in the Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece.” It has exploitation written all over it, right?
I couldn’t have been more wrong. The movie is mostly honest and these players are leading incredibly rich, fun, colorful, athletic lives. And the movie was very informative about the game rules, training, etc.
On the negative side, I don’t think their presentation of Coach Joe was balanced(the faq session with him in the special features section is excellent, though). Also, I would really like more information about the dangers of the game – some of those hits were pretty rough.

Gregarius Video/Screencast
I put together a screencast showing off some features of Gregarius (Open Source, Single User, Online, Extensible, RSS Aggregator). I made the video for 2 audiences: Friends of mine who are Gregarius neophytes that are interested in my new favorite aggregator and Gregarius veterans who may be interested in my additions (Frames theme and Minimal Channel List).
Features demonstrated in chronological order:
- Gregarius Channel List
- Gregarius – Minimal Channel List – hide feeds with no unread items
- Gregarius Item List
- Gregarius – Frames theme – resizability
- Gregarius – Frames theme – hide header
- Gregarius – show read and unread or just unread
- Gregarius – Sticky (like ‘keep new’ in BlogLines)
- Gregarius – Mark all items in the item list as read
- Gregarius – View all unread items in a folder
The screencast is here(pretty html wrapper or just the raw swf). It’s almost 10MB.

Peugeot Concept Car: Moovie
André Costa’s words that described the car went as follows: “What shaped the visual look on the vehicle was the two big electric wheels with hollow rim, these wheels are hollow in the middle, this is where the doors of the car are located, the vehicle has like this big doors allowing the users to have enough space to enter and exit the vehicle.
“The big wheels have a reason behind it, the bigger the wheel less turns it has to make to travel, less turns less energy expended. The front of the vehicle is supported by two spheres, these are purely for support, the car turns by a system that makes one electric wheel go faster then the other, this system allows the vehicle in some cases to make 360º turns which is great for parking and moving in small city streets.
“Also and to enhance the stability of the vehicle, the wheels make an angle of about 10º closing on the top.
“The two big round doors slide along the side-front of the car to waste less space in small parking spaces, allowing a better exit at all times. The review mirrors fold up to avoid touching the doors during the side slide.
